The majority of Torquay pottery made in this section are of traditional motto wares decorated in slip showing Brixham, Devon style sailing boats. Some others featured here are moulded pots ranging from rowing boats, canal barges and tugs to paddle steamers. A few earlier ones are oil painted on terracotta plaques and may include ocean going sailing ships while more modern items like mugs are often transfer printed commemoratives for Royal Naval vessels. Some of these items are scarce and desirable and well worth looking out for. As you may see many of the less common ones are from smaller or later potteries.
